What started as a per-winter initiative in October 2022, the fabrication of stoves and water boilers, all made from old recycled electrical water cylinders, has ramped up significantly.
The constant targeting of power and water infrastructure has necessitated an all-year-round approach to the collection of old cylinders and their re-fabrication, and to date we have distributed over 3,000 units, often described as lifesaving by those families who receive them.
The stoves and water boilers are a cost-effective and practical option given their utility as a source of heat and hot water, the ability to use the hotplate for cooking, and their easy maneuverability given their lightweight structure.
If power and water ceases completely due to attacks on infrastructure, these units will keep a family alive.
This project is vital and requires immediate funds to keep the old cylinders coming, the welders fabricating and, the wheels of distribution rolling.
